This is driving me nuts!!!...lol.... The bike is an 08 Streeglide. Put Vance& Hines big shot Duels on with SE Stage 1 kit and kept the stock air filter cover. The oil comes out of breather area and drips out the air filter cover and blows back on the pipes and saddle bag. Stealer told me as long as I have stage 1 kit can't do nothing about it and its normal.

I saw another Streetglide today with Vance & Hines duels with stock breather cover and SE stage 1 kit no oil on that bike!!! Looked all over hell to find the rider and ask how they did it,but never found the rider. Any one have same problem and maybe corrected it that would pass on info.as to what they did to stop it? Would buy you two beers and dance at your next wedding!!!!!!!

if you run the bike hard you will get excess oil from the breather. check to make sure the breather tubes to the heads are open. i put an arlen ness beather on mine and that cured the problem. you can also put a maxi pad in the bottom of the cover to absorb excess oil.
it is normal for oil to gather in the bottom of the cover, but it should not drip out

    Chuck,

Thanks for the info. I never run my bike hard at all....we do ride two up all the time and I'am a big guy over 300 lbs. It don't drip out a bunch just enough to spray the bike with a real fine oil,but no puddle on the ground or where its parked in garage. I put a maxie pad there but it only works about two hundred miles. hard to remember to change the maxie...good thing I'm not a female...lol....
Maybe I should put an Arlen on it,but then another map change and all.......might be better off to keep the dam oil...actually the oil seems to drip out more on really hot days after going threw a town idleing more.

I have installed python mufflers made by vance and hines and SE stage one kit with stock cover. I run my SG pretty hard when warm but don't get drips like what you get. If I take the cover off there will be a little residue around intake area but no drips. Hope you get it fixed. I don't think oil spray is normal for a stage one kit.

i am not sure if there is that much difference between the stage one and ness filter system, with the exception of a better venting system. you may not need a map if you change over. make sure the vents are open.....i had an oil problem with the stock aircleaner system....the ness cured it.

What your seeing is from spit back thru the intake. what happens is the fuel spit back mixs with the oil on your air filter then blows back on the pipes. this will happen during decel with the throttle part way open. Make sure that air filter is not over oiled. I have seen this on more bikes than i can count. and havent found a cure for it yet other than wipe it off and keep your knees in the breeze.

Its a real fine mist of oil blowed back on the bike like hddoc explained. But it will drip out of the bottom of air filter cover and a good bit if hot outside and forced to idle for a little while. Not sure if I understand how we could decel with throttle part way open?Wonder if you might expand a bit on that. Have had problems with high idle a few times, but this oil is constant just worse from idle on very hot days.

the part throttle decel happens all the time ie.slowing down for a red , paceing your buds out on the road i think you get the idea. any way reach under the bottom lip of air filter cover if your finger gets dirty their you go. you will find after removeing cover that the bottom of the filter is wet or at least it will look darker than the rest of the filter, remove filter and it will be wet around the backing plate. you can wash the filters with soap and water and let air dry. if it is the K&N type it needs to be reoiled after wash. use K&N filter oil it has a red dye in it give the filter a VERY LIGHT spray. just enuogh to cover some folks try to paint the darn thing red and thats too much. if you have a filter that is the dry type (its has a blue seal around the filter) just wash and let air dry. You will have to do this bit of maint more often than the reg serv interval (2.5k) It can be worse on the hot days as it gets the oil/fuel mist to flowing. The other thing i have found is that if you have a tendency to "Blip' the throttle it will tend to build up faster. I hope this helps to answer your question.
