Oil consumption

    I have an 07 FXD with 70k. I have used Syn 3 since the first oil change.

    I have noticed that I am using about a quart of oil between oil changes. (3000 miles)

    There is no oil buildup on the pipe or plug. Last weekend someone in back of me said that when I really got on it hard it smoked, they said the smoke was gray. This was the first time in months I really got on it. Usually I am just cruising bakc and forth to work.

    Am I about to have an engine melt down.

    Very informative and likely the problem. I noticed today, a lot of oil residue around the oil fill. Never had that before.

    Maybe I just need to realize that my 3 year old bike has as many miles as a 7 year old bike.
