    On my 01 FXDWG -

I did a rear wheel belt replacement and while i was doing so found some issues in the primary case. the chain tensioner was broken in half and it was ground up all over. I pulled the whole case, cleaned it thoroughly, sealed with silicone gasket maker, and replaced all gaskets.

Since, I've been having issues with oil flow. The bike runs perfectly through the neighborhood and at lower speeds. Twice now, ive gotten on the highway and within 10 minutes of riding 60+ i begin to have strange noises from the engine, and oil levels are sporadic. the oil is getting caught up in different places, top of the engine (coming out of cams), or oil reservoir shows extremely full and then very low after a 10 minute run. The primary case oil seems fine.

Yesterday i thought i had it fixed, and went for a ride, everything sounding perfect, and again 15 minutes into the ride i had issues, this time the CKP blew out of the engine(crank position sensor - near the oil filter) and spewed boiling oil all over me and the 3 cars to my left. There was easily 1 qt of oil just on my left pant leg.

Oddly, i put the cap in, and rode home at low speed (30), after getting most of the way home with no issues or odd noises i got back on the highway and returned home with no issues...

This is where im stuck now. Its very hard to do test runs at those speeds and still be able to get the bike back home. It appears the oil is not flowing properly and pressure is building up in bad places.

I did come across a small part after my work was done that may or may not have come from my bike. i will post a pic of it later, so far, i have no idea where it came from... It looks like a spacer or washer that is roughly 1/4 in thick

Hope yall have some ideas for me to try

All those symtoms sounds like a blocked breather. Causes the engine to build up internal pressure, then you get the explosive decompression. i experienced this myself, breather plugged on a bagger bleww the oil filler plug right out of the tank, hit me in the forehead and knocked me on my a&&.

    OK kinda confused
You had to replace a belt,
    worked in the primary only

And now the motors blowing parts off?

The two areas do not share oil.

So something else is wrong obviously

As was stated these motors have to breath out pressure, if you block the head breather hose (crimp it accidentally) it will build up pressure, usually the oil cap/dipstick is the first to go, if you have one of the Baker screw in tops and it can't come out then it's going to find the weakest link.

How are the head breathers routed, back to carb/intake like stock>?

Did you run a hose to bypass the intake breather setup if so check that hose for blockage, if you have a filter on the end, take it off, they don't help CCi has a small flapper rubber tip valve to put on the end, it keeps the engine from sucking dirt and air back in.

Other than that I would suspect oil overfill or an oil return issue.

    Oil Not Returning

I would say that the OIL PUMP is NOT geting oil BACK out of engine.....LOW-HIGH levels in oil tank...

I changed out my oil pump for a FEULING on my dyna 2000 when I changed over to gear drive cams.... The HD oil pump LACKS the size gears to remove oil so sumping (engine filling with oil and not returning) and if mis-aligned will make matters worse...... is my GUESS on the problem.......

HAS your oil pump been removed or out of the engine??? I did have an alignment problem with my stock HD pump.

is it a 1/4 thick washer with big enough hole to fit on the engine chain-sproket damper area..... if so look at hd manual to see the positioning of the spacers.....IF it is a small washer it might of been behind the primary chain adjustment nut.....
