Earnestine has been setting for 6 months. Today when I started her up she was pumping oil through the breather, and I mean lots of oil:wtf: . I recall there was some mention of this problem before and it involved a check valve somewhere? Can someone refresh my memory:witsend: on this problem and how to fix it.

earnestine is probably an older lady. after setting for a while they will "sump". this is a common problem. actually if you run it more the problem will not be a problem as the oil will be returned to the oiltank . the cause of the problem is oil from the oil tank returning back into the crankcase. gravity causes this. there is a check valve between the two. your service manual will show the location of it and how to service it. a piece of cake and probably wont cost anything but a bit of time. may have some dirt in it and not allowing it to seat all the way. if i let my pan set for a month without running it i will put a catch pan under it to catch the oil it will get rid of. after that, as long as i run it weekly i dont have that problem. have fun and let us know how it works out for you...........
