On the stock oil pump for an 88 Tc how are the dots to be aligned? I looked at the SM and it really doesn't specify how the gerotors are to be aligned. On each set of gerotors are the dots to be lined up together or near close to each other and facing in or are they to be facing out? I know that the gerotors won't fit inside of each other perfectly.

    Thanks. :)

On oil pumps so equipped, position both inner
and outer rotor sets with the punch
    marks facing out. If
the rotor set is not marked, position the rotors
    in either orientation.

You got it . The thinner gears go in first .the thicker of the set go in last.

Trust me the exploded view is backwords . Pressure side goes into the pump first . Scavange side goes in last . I am 100 percent positive . You can double check in the service manual . Read don't go by the pics

I am speaking of the order if I'm looking down at the pump housing sitting on a bench . A I would be looking into the bore of the pump!

yes Paul but I am not installing it at the moment. I am just putting it back together so I have to put back together backwards. We are both right, when I put it back together, I have to put the thicker gerotor in first, then the first separator plate, then the wave washer, then another separator plate, then the thinner gerotor set, then the last separator plate, which yes, ultimately goes against the cam plate.

Yes in other words the first set of gears that would mesh on the crank would be the thick gears and the last would end up against the plate . Make sure you pack the pump with assembly lube as to create a vacum so it will drfaw oil. In and pressure out .

Ok for now I just put a coat of oil on them just to keep them from scoring. I can take apart again and pack them full. Hey is there supposed to be three separator plates or just two? My PM is only showing two?????:wtf:

No flat washer for me, just two separator plates. I went back and tore the pump apart again and I see where I screwed it up. I forgot to put a plate in when I thought I did. We got it.
