When I was stationed at Thule AB Greenland I oversaw the flightline operstions. One of the best parts of that job was that I met all of the scientific teams that came to Thule. I was able to pick and choose which teams I would escort to where they were going. I flew up with the team that was ice coring the cap to determine what the climate was like centuries ago. I was able to escort a team that according to the professor was the only place in the world that you can see three glaciers at the same time. The best was escorting a team to the cap to camp Tuto. This was the launching point for operations on the cap called camp century.

The SAM sites were being dismantled the year I was there but enough was left to get a feel for the sites and how much we invested.

Those are cool articles! It is amazing the stuff they did then in the name of defense. A can do attitude and a no surrender no retreat zeal!
