No, not the kind that goes on my salad - just wondering what to use to clean & dress my belt (see pic).

Well, to answer my own question - somebody said to just wash it with soap & water. Sounds like a good idea . . . .

I wouldn't put anything on it after you clean it

Yep, I'm with Sleepy. The soap on the car belt quites it from either squeeking or slipping. It is a badaid for the real problem which is usually being too loose (tighten it) and/or rubber aging and getting hard and shiny (replace). JMO

totally agree with everyone else. see customer cars come in noisy, they tried one sort of product or another, ultimatley made the situation worse.

The guy that said to wash it claims he's had only 2 primary belts in the past 20+ years. He said nothing about any additives - just wash it. My belt looks okay but I'm gonna wash it today or tomorrow.

BTW, I always clean my bike by hand - no pressure washes. In some places I use a degreaser, in others I spray brake cleaner and wipe dry, and in others, like most of the painted surfaces I use windex. Then I polish all the chrome and aluminum stuff with Blue magic.
I clean it often enough that it's not really a chore. The whole bike cleans up in less than an hour.

    Cool pic, Fatboy.

Vaseline . . . hmmm . . . I will look around for "bike brite". Be nice to use just one product for everything.

I don't use wax on my painted surfaces as I sometimes do touch up rattle can painting (flat black). Paint job always looks "new".:D

i hear ya on the flat black . painted my sons jeep bed coating and flat black looks awesome . as far as bike brite goes you can get it on line and most bike shops keep it in stock nothing does a better job on wire wheels and the motor . also leaves a rust free coating . when your done.
