    Crank,
    I think that is great.
I am involved with the US Defenders program in my state through the Confederation Of Clubs. The COC is putting together a ride to go to the state capital on April 14th. Last Friday evening at our local HOG meeting we had to 2 members from different 1% clubs come and ask for HOG members to participate in the ride to the capital. When was the last time you saw that happen.
We are going to have a police escort and they have arranged for a parking area at the capital building.
I am giving a talk at our local ministry meeting next week about getting involved, here’s my question to you, Do you have any idea how many people were pulled into the Safety Check points and what the results were in your state?

    History of ABATE
Going Back in Time Before We Were a Twinkle in Lou Kemzey's Eye
Back in June of 1971, a new and exciting motorcycle publication was introduced - EASYRIDERS - a motorcycle magazine for the entertainment of adult bikers. This came into existence by the hard work of Lou Kimzey, the Editor, along with the owner of Paisano Publications.
About the same time that EASYRIDERS got underway, an organization by the name of NCCSI (National Custom Cycle Safety Institute) got going...
In Issue No. 3, October 1971, EASYRIDERS started a non-profit organization just for bikers.
It was called NCCA (National Custom Cycle Association). At the time, dues were $3 for a one-year membership
It wasn’t long until Lou changed NCCA to ABATE (A Brotherhood Against Totalitarian Enactments). Lou came
about the Eagle logo in an old civil war publication...

Been a member for 5 years in Indiana - ABATE in our state also has a contract to teach motorcycle safety classes and test for the endorsment and works very closely with the BMV and the INDOT to maintain high standards of training required by our state - we also are very active in state goverment and have watchdogs in place to prevent stupid laws aimed at motorcycle riders.
Also give a lot of time and manhours to promote our organization - such as working at the INDY speedway during the MOTO GP races as track recovery personnel and at the coat/helmet check in areas.
Since our governor is also a rider and leads one of the biggest runs every year for charity we are (I think) very well known in the state which helps us to get what we want.

Our Governor is a med. Dr, so guess what, yep we get the shaft everytime. I support our state motorcycle rights through our HOG chapter. I got kind of turned off to ABATE here when I would see them drinking and riding and I don't mean one beer either but drunk. They have a pretty wild weekend camp-out rally here called the Fossil Rally, one big long weekend drunk. Wife and many other women riders here refuse to go, don't blame em as women get pretty well degraded at their rally. I'm sure they do some good and I'm sure there are good people involved in it but were not into the hard drinking and riding scene.

    Harleys LR question,
Do you have any idea how many people were pulled into the Safety Check points and what the results were in your state?
    unQUOTE
I dunno how many folks were detained
or got citations, I need to update the soapbox thread on it though, I got a couple new e mails asking that IF you were written a citation to contact us and a lawyer that has some goings on with cases...
At the Capitol protest run we were told several motorcyclists had been through the checkpoints...
The one in Savannah had quite a few law vehicles with helecopter and a van taking pictures of us...

If you were cited by the Georgia State patrol at either of the two motorcycle only checkpoints last month PLEASE EMAIL SECRETARY@ABATEGA.ORG ASAP! we are gathering all available information on this matter. Thanks,
    Ned Williams

check out soap box fer checkpoints update,
