Hi, just joined bike talk, thanks for the welcome. I have a stock 51 FL pan that I have had for 35 years. My question is if I'm running low compression pistons is the J grind andrews cam number 24276 the correct cam to use with these pistons? I seem to have pinging when pulling a hill. When I put it in I didn't relize there are cams for low compression pistons. Now I don't know if I should go back to stock pistons or leave pistons I have and change cam again? Hope someone can help. Thanks

the cam you installed is for stock compression. it is a mild street cam. doesnt need any modifications to preform well. to get the best bang for the buck i would put the stock pistons back in. should stop your pinging also. welcome to the forum!!

So with this cam I would be better off with higher compression stock pistons instead of low compression pistons ? Thanks

just don't go overboard on the cam if you decide to put hi comp pistons in - the pan is a great engine - but it does have it's limitations.:)
    And welcome to BTF:D

Thanks for the info. We just got hit with two feet of snow so nows the time to get all the little things done. This pan and I have been thru a lot, from the wild days to now the smarter days, Now I"m playing around with the cam but I have kept it all stock for all these years ( still 6v system). Now I'm just playing around with the cam , always have the stock one to go back to. Thanks
