JohnnyBiker is going to try really hard to ride down to Los Angeles when he is out in Nevada visiting Red Rider. Just curious when the best time would be to be riding through there? Is there such a thing? I am not planning or really wanting to at this time spend any kind of time there. I just want to ride through.

Suggestions for a time and possible rout would be awesome!!

    Thanks!!

Johnny, NO time is the best time to go to L.A., brother. It's a hell hole filled with crazed gun toting gang bangers and people who drive like they want to kill you. Been there - done that.

You forgot, arrive at 4 PM on a Friday evening just to get the full effect. Oh yea, be sure to have a big huge oil cooler on the bike.

Another thing is the smog. You can smell it a hundred miles away and you can see this dingy yellow cloud hanging over the city. Get a little closer and your eyes will start to sting and water up. That's what it was like the last time I was there on a bike.

I know JB hasn't been there and wants to see it, LA is pretty cool in some areas
you just need to be sure you don't get off on the wrong street

Ride the freeway over, go to the coast, check out Jessie James, no wait he left for TX lower taxes, less costs shoot guns have fun... Hit Hollyweird, check out the hookers and pimps and dealers, drive by Manns Chinese theater, go to rodeo drive check out the mucho hot plastic wimmen.. Head over to Malibu, see if Charlie Sheen is home, bring liquir drugs and wimmen, he prefers the ones from Rodeo....

I've done some riding in CA, lived in San Fran area for a while, roads are great when you getup to them, interstates are busy all the time 24/7 and fugging stopped at rush hour which is 6 to 9 and 4 to 8 avoid them.

Take your GPS so you can get out and in...

He don't care what the negatives are he's going. He would do better going someplace like the Grand Canyon, or Bolder. But if he goes there he better take that head gear off he wears or the gangs will shoot him.

Everyone needs to go see it, that way you can see what your
liberal left progressive believe is the way people should live
paying for others, crumbling inner city, high crime, massive amount
of illegals and "non white" integrated utopia...

JMO San Diego is a much better place, and lots of good riding out
    by Julian

SFO as well, cooler temps, the bridge, warft, Sausalito, cruise the 1 from SFO to Carmel
have a drink at the Hogs Breath, see pebble beach, that's CA...

LA is just a big concrete jungle.

Hey wasn't there a song about that..

    The freaks in the streets
    The nuns with the shotguns
The graves rolling by your side
    Survival of the fittest
    And there ain't no pity
    No one gets out alive
    In the Concrete Jungle
It's the well of the damned
    Step inside and you'll understand
    Misfits, psychos and twisted slaves
    The house of the sane
    No one can be saved

    Rolling six feet under
    Rolling six feet under
    Roll and keep on rolling

    No one gets out
They're ready to die once again
    No one gets out
    They're ready to die

    Another day to bleed
    Another day to die
Another day to blackout and then go blind
    Maniacal blitzkrieged
    Where the maggots play God
Where the souls of the lost come to die
    The Concrete Jungle
It's the well of the damned
    Step inside and you'll understand
    Misfits, psychos and twisted slaves
    The house of the sane
    No one can be saved

    Rolling six feet under
    Rolling six feet under
    Roll and keep on rolling

    No one gets out
They're ready to die once again
    No one gets out
    They're ready to die

The Monterey Peninsula, where I lived for a dozen years or more, is a fine place to ride. There's "old town" Monterey with it's Fisherman's Wharf, Pacific Grove (where Mac the Wife and I were married in Monarch Butterfly park), and Carmel where the homes don't have numbers on them and tree-lined neighborhood streets have no curbs. And on the way up, you go through Big Sur. Awesome country any time of the year. Just go up US highway 1. You'll never forget it. L.A? FORGET IT!:D

    Hey Johnny,
I grew up in a city called Upland, which is about 50miles east of LA. I’m not really familiar with LA but my wife is. If nobody else lives around there and has nothing to give ya, let me know and I’ll see what I can do to get you a good place to roll through. I do know that you will be taking the 10 freeway, stay away from the 60 or the 91! The quietest time for traffic in that area is during the week between 10am and 3pm. Any earlier or later than that and traffic will be insane! Highway 1 “PCH” has some really nice areas to ride with a view of the ocean. Check on the website “Pashnit” for the best areas of PCH. If you’re heading back home on the 10 and need to stop for a break, Upland is a really nice town and Mt. Baldy is the big mountain due north of it; cool place to ride. Also, Rt.66 (AKA Foothill blvd.) runs right through upland and will take you to the 15 freeway where you can head back to the 10 or north towards the desert/Vegas. I’m currently in Fresno Ca, if you’re ever in this area let me know.
    Take care..

Thanks Doc! As of now my rough plan is to ride out to Reno, hang there for however long with Red. then Red and I ride California Hwy 36 to Eureka. Now from Eureka I would like to take coastal roads down to L.A. I do however would like to ride the Sunset Strip and Hollywood Blvd. from L.A. I would like to ride to Vegas and then back to Reno. So any road recommendations from there would be awesome.

I am looking to do this next summer as this year there were just too many things happening. Hope to talk to you soon,

    JB
