I have a 2003 Dyna Super Glide and am interested in replacing the factory pipes. Several questions. Any thoughts on simply removing the baffles? Would I still need to jet the carb if that is done? Any recomendations on pipes. I had V&H Long Shots on a previous bike and loved their sound but do not like the look for the Dyna.

    Jet it dude!

Anytime you alter the back-pressure your exhaust system has, you have to do the carb/ jets, unless you don't mind back-fires, fouled plugs, harder times starting, poor fuel milage, hotter engine  ....best bet, if you want more sound, go with a quality set of pipes, have it re-jetted to match and you'll be a happier camper in the long run,....and so will your scoot!

    Torque curve

Besides needing to rejet, pulling the baffles will usually screw up your midrange torque. You will be weak in the midrange and stronger on top end power. If you just want to be loud and don't care how it runs, pull the baffles and rejet. If you are running wide open most of the time you can live with the mid-range problem. If you do a lot of highway cruising you probably can't.

I Run V&h Big Radius With Big City Thunders Thunder Monster Baffels, With Arlen Ness Big Sucker And Rejetted The Carb., Great Sound And Low To Mid Range Is Awesome. These Pipes Really Help The Looks Of A Dyna, Friends Of Mine Are Running Them On A Super Glide And Another One On A Wide Glide.

My 2003 Sporty came with drag pies without baffles. Only the top end was good, everything else sucked. I had backfires, sluggish front end and iffy starts. Don't just remove baffles. I had V&H baffles put in and Stage 1 kit done. It runs so much better now. Don't confuse loud with ridiculously loud. My pipes are more than plenty loud now, with a deep low tone that sounds better than most Harley's I've been around, but without the baffles it was horrible. People came out of their apartments to complain and it was a cop magnet.

SPEAKING OF A COP MAGNET, I LIVE ON TOP OF A HILL THAT OVER LOOKS TOWN, WELL WE CALL IT A HILL :roflmao: SOME OF YOU WOULD CALL IT A MOUNTIAN,:roflmao: PROB. A 1500 TO 2000 FT UPGRADE ABOVE TOWN. ANY WAY I WORK NIGHTS SO AT 11PM I GO TRUCKEN UP THAT HILL AT 30MPH, WOULD HATE TO LIVE ON THAT ROAD WITH ALL THE BIKES GOING UP:roflmao: I'VE DELT WITH THE LOUSY PERFORMANCE FOR YEARS, WITHOUT JETTING THE CARB AND RUNNING OPEN PIPES, IF I WAS TO DO IT AGIAN I WOULD GO A DIFFERN'T ROUTE, I WILL BE CHANGING TO A NEW OR JET THE OLD CARB, WITH NEW PIPES AND BAFFLES, WHICH ARE REQUIERD BY LAW HERE, AS SOON AS THE OL'LADY RELAXES OFF ALL THE SPENDING ON THE BIKE THIS WINTER:roflmao: SO INSTEAD OF CHEAPING OUT, I WOULD DO IT CORECTLY THE FIRST TIME JMO, FROM MY EXPERIENCE.

lots of good choices most are within a few hp and tq of each other for bolt on stuff.

Without a lot of motor changes, cams, heads etc I'd opt for a simple slip on from Khrome Werks or Cycle Shack.

Good sound deep and make good power, not overly loud either.

I had a '05 Dyna Super Glide and had a set of Vance & Hines Big Shots Staggered and I really liked them on the bike. I had a EFI bike and I used a PC3 . It was a really easy set up on that bike. I had it dyno tuned after that ,boosted the Hp by 11 doing that.
