I recently put a S&S 124 in my fxr and love it! now that it's all broken in I'm going through the "what is the best pipe for all around performance" question. Should I be running a two into one or a two into two? it's a stock engine out of the box. I had some 1 7/8 dyno power stagerd duels on it and for the money (chaep) they are great. I also have a Thunder header that produces goood results on a dyno (130 hp and 140 pounds of tourq at about 5200 rpm). However, dyno results and what is ridable can often be two difernt things. There are so many pipes manufactures stating that they have the best pipe and you can spend a lot of time and money on the dyno. Got any suggestions?

I did a little work experimenting on my own and came up with the thunder header is definetly the better pipe of the two. The dyno power does have more power right out of the hole up to about 2,000 rpms, but after that the two into one is by far the better of the two. Now for the fitting of the pipe. Due to the bigger motor the thunder header doesn't fit well. Do you know of any manufactures that make a quality two into one that make a pipe for big inch motors?

Got a 116 and I can barely get the thunderheader on the motor but it will fit, takes a bit of moving around and having the bracket to mount to the frame loose so you can re fit everything.

    I haven't found anyone making a 2-1 specifically for the taller/wider motors.

Most are made to the specs of the stock 95/88 setup.

I have a set of bassani pro streets and even they needed some work to line up at the mounting point LOL they are separate 2-2 pipes It felt like the motor freed up when I got the bassanis on the bike over the thunderheader.

The thunderheader produced serious tq and hp haven't dynoed the bassani pipes yet.

We're almost in that (make your own) area with the large motors and 2-1 option. Check with bassani about thier 2-1

I found a gut that makes his own two into one pipes he call it "lightning", it's tunable and is supposed to be an awesome set up. He is going to make me one. After I dyno it I'll let you know how it performs.

I don't have any experience with the BIG motors yet...but I've heard the Bassani Road Rage 2-1 pipe can handle motors up to 150 HP...Never heard anything but a glowing recommendation about them.

Another direction is the blackhole exhuast system from RBracing. I just recently heard about their product but I've talked with a guy on the VTF about his and he loves the sound and the power. You can read more here:

Thing would be are they made to fit the larger motors physically, I've found that's part of the challange.

My thunderheader "fits" but not perfectly, and it's a bit small for the larger motor but still belted out 120+ HP and over 130 TQ not bad for an off the shelf pipe JMHO.

RB racing has a good rep for bragging but not delivering. I would do some research on not only their performance but, do they actually deliver the product. Read about one guy that had waited for over a year for heat shields.
