I take it you're going with new rings and a fresh hone and stock pistons,no difference in the pistons front or rear...but if the valve reliefs are different sizes,(I don't think they are on stock pistons, but I suffer from CRS)the intake would be the larger, measure and verify...

Here's from my Service Manual, you have one too, right??

Install the pistons. Be sure they are properly orientated front to back. The raised nub or cast in arrow on the piston pin boss must go to the left(sprocket shaft)side.
Make sure your ring end gaps are properly positioned....good luck, keep us posted...:)

big valve pockets towards the inside small valve pockets towards the outside . if the pistons are the ones that came out of the bores wear marks for front and rear of the pistons will be on the back side of the skirts . in other words the piston that belongs in the front jug will have big valve pocket facing in with the scratches on the skirt facing towards the front (wear marks on the bottom of skirt). and the same for the rear piston . going the other direction hope this helps ya.
