well noticed the bike not running quite right last time out and I got the piss shocked out of me when I touched the plug wire. Well today changed out the wires, the old front one was rubbed through to the wire in 2 places. Any suggestions on how to route the wires, and I assume it doesn't matter which wire goes where on the coil. Diagram in service manual shows lower coil connection to front cylinder, but a picture in the book show opposite. This is the third set of wires in 3 years, must be a way to stop this from happening.:(

what are high dollar ones? Used the nylon ones out of work truck without the metal clips because they rust.

    Its that OLD EVO man............:D

If'n you have a place that gits rubbed. I would git some of the flex tubing that goes over wires in cars. It will protect them.
And I like super good wires too. They conduct electricity better.
Did you spray any water on the cold with it running to see if the coil is in good shape too.

Touch the coil with yer hand and make sure it don't have a short anywhere.:gah:

Single fire coil, plug wire position is important on a twin cam, it
won't run if you get them backassward...

Hey Brian, I use ThunderVolt Wires from Sumax. these are really good wires and they have lasted me a long time. They are somewhat expensive but I am going on my third season and not a single issue with them. Don't skimp on this.

On newer models you must make sure the resistance in the wires are compatible for the bike or the anti-knock setting wont work on the ECM.
