Powder coating wheels...

    I'm in the primary steps of having my '07-FLHTi cast wheels powder coated & don't know if the bearings should be removed.Has anyone out there done theirs recently-or-have any powder-coat experience with this topic?Thanks in advance,00 wildglide.:cool:

    yes, remove anything you dont want powder coated, also in the process of powdercoating, temps can/will get above 400*f......so the grease will run and really mess up the job..........

    Ya gotta remove the seals & bearings. Then to be on the safe side, clean all the grease out of the hole with solvent. The powdercoating shop should do a good job of cleaning the parts, but ya might save a couple bucks if they don't have to do anything extra. When they cure the powder at 375 to 400 degrees any grease left inside the hub can melt and run out, (and screw up the paintjob on your rims).
