Hello everyone, I have a question about a 1995 electra-glide ultra classic. It has a power commander 3 USB that came with it when I bought it, but the people at Power Commander say that they don't make a power commander for anything below 1997. So I did a little researching and found out that the ultra classic's come with 1340 Evo motors. O.K., heres my dilemma: my bike does not run very well, it's hard to start and runs very rich, lots of black smoke. I took it in to get it worked on and it runs worse than it did before. Since Power Commander does not make any products brfore 1997, I can't find a map suitable to make it run right. The map that is currently in the bike is for a 1340 Evo motor w/ screamin eagle air filter and bassani slip-ons with a stage 1 Ecu. I'm pretty sure everything is stock on the bike. Is there anybody out there that can help me with my map problem? I would love to ride this summer!!! Thank you for your time.

Try runnin it without the P.C..(I assume you dont have an injected engine). Then just adjust/change Needles in carb for proper fuel mix.

So what tuner do have then? have you taken the bike apart to get at the tuner so you can figure out what it is first? YOu must have the old MM system?

I have not taken the bike apart and I don't know what the tuner you are talking about is. I'm new to the motorcycle world and everything I've learned is from cool people like yourselves helping me out. I'm thinking about putting in a zero map and seeing what happens then. Please tell me more about this tuner.....

The MM is the FI system that harley first used. M Magnelli or something like that. Weird that that bike has FI. I would start by researching to make sure that this bike came stock with EFI. If it did, then it is the MM system. I have heard that those systems were not that good. My bike is an 01 and I still have a carb. I thought at one point that FI was first introduced in like 97 for Harley's?

I checked all the numbers and everything matches. It's a 1995 Electra-Glide Ultra Classic. It is fuel injected and according to the numbers it came stock with fuel injection. Could this be a limited edition or some such thing? I don't know.....Frustrating!!!!

Pull the power commander. Contact FUELMOTO.COM and run your questions by them. They should be able to answer any POWER COMMANDER questions including maps. They do thousands of Dyno Tunes using the PC.

95 was the first year of HD EFI.

Is the powercommander connected, or is it doing this with the stock ECM and harness only. If you have the pC3 on it, pull the powercommander off the bike, that's your tuner,
reconnect all the stock harness to the stock ECM, then see if the bike runs ok.

I'm presuming you've done the basic oil change, clean air filter, new spark plugs, checked the spark plug wires for breaks, cut, wear, and that they are back on. Bike sounds to be running very rich, so it's possible you have a stuck EFI injector, or if you have PC3 on it might be running like crap because of that.

I had all the tuning up your talking about done recently and thats when my problems got worse. I took it to an independent Harley mechanic and he charged me $650.00 to tune it up, change the oil and he said he "tweaked" the fuel injection timing(?). It seemed to run fine, but it was warm and the next morning it would barely start (battery died!). So, here I am, the boys at FuelMoto U.S.A are sending me a map that they came up with that might possibly work on a '95 electra-glide. Them's good people over there!! Wish me luck!!!

I agree with HRK, remove the Power Commander and run it without it and see if that helps. Had an 03 Ultra that could not get it to run right. Problem was the Power Commander. Had to disconnect it and the bike ran fine.
Let us know what you find.
