Has anyone ever glued patches on your leather vest? It's hard to find someone that can sew these on and if anyone has glued them with success it would be much easier.

    tanxs in advance.

We have a leather gal here that sews all the patches for everyone around here. I don't think the glue will last as one corner starts to pell and it all goes. Best to keep looking for someone to sew them for you.

That's weird. Here the Indy and HD shops have Saturdays where they have people that sew patches on leather. Pretty common. I usually have a dry cleaner do it for $5 per patch.

Contact cement works great. Apply it to both surfaces, let it dry then stick it on, clamp it with a brick or something heavy for about an hour.

Go on craigslist, find a good sewing machine and buy it, get one that has heavy duty capabilities to punch through the leather and do your own, sell the machine when you are done, probably get one for under $100.

Then give it to the wife, tell her to start sewing things and quit buying clothes at the store, be sure the bike starts though...

Most leather vests have a lining which should be removed first if you want a professional looking job. The linings can bunch up and make the vest hang funny. Most dry cleaners have industrial sewing machines that have no problem punching through the leather. Not all seamstesses have industrial sewing machines.

I don't think gluing is as permanent as sewing.

The gal that does the sewing for the motorcyclist around here works out of a Independent motorcycle shop. We do have one lady that comes to the HD dealership but don't care for her work.

Got so many small rallys here, one somewhere close just about every weekend, most always have a kiosk set up sewing on patches. Bike nights have them here pretty often too.

Saw an add for glue called E6000. Sold at Walmart and Michaels (craft store) around here. Never used, but saw You tube video on it.

Yeah, I saw this same one that's what got me thinking. The last time I left the vest with a person at a kiosk at a rally I lost a pin, so that bummed be out. That's why I'm trying to do this. I don't know if I have the patience to sew them on myself.

Needle and thread works every time, after about 5 minutes you're a pro. Don't for get a thimble, saves on thumbs.

Good idea. Definitely must have a thimble to push the needle through the leather.
