Picked up a 97 FLHTC and the radio volume raises and lowers by itself when you are riding at a steady speed, is this a problem that can be dealt with by disconnecting a wire from the speedo or is it going to be an expensive fix. If the automatic volume can be disconnected I would go that route.

I think noise is what makes the radio go up. You need to find the sencer that controls that. Ask a dealer.

Go to your radio control panel and find how to set the AVC and turn it off.

We used to use these gaskets on EVO's
If you pull the jugs make sure you get some copper coat for the gaskets the jugs seal on the motor with.

Going to ring it at the same time, In the past Jims gaskets were the way to. I'll have to check to see if they came out with something better.

Because I've used them on Older bikes.
And never seen a problem like you describe.
And a Gasket is gonna go out in 400 miles.
Something wasn't right when it went together.
I've seen James original gaskets go where there were some tolerances not meeting good and it did well.
Not if something wasn't locktites or torqued down to the right specifications. I could see a problem.
The dude at the Indy shop I worked at used James Gaskets on a lot of the older bikes. And he thinks they never stopped making Evo's

Can you really hear a good, clean sound from a radio with all the other racket going on?
