I have a 2001 Sportster 883 with lowered rear suspension. My Dunlop MT90 B16 has worn down and I have a unused Michelin Commander 140/90/16 in my storage. Does anyone know if it will fit? I've heard that some 140 tires fit while others don't.

This I'd a trail & err deal I have a 140 on my e glide a lot of people said it would not fit , I run the metzler some tires Arr the same in # size but are fatter then others mesure the width of both your tires & distance from belt & that should get you close

So just put it on the rim and see if it'll fit?

That list isn't quite accurate. The standard for a 2001 Sportster is 130/90-16 not 150/80-16 .

You can mesure the distance from the 130 to the belt , then see how wide the 140 is & see if you have enough room , I have just a hair or two distance on my e glide did the 130 to 140 swap

I'll have it put on the rim and see if it'll fit. Otherwise just buy a new one.

It's on and it seems to run freely. The belt is approx. 0.5-0.7 cm from the tire. Not sure what will happen with the bolts in the sides of the fender when riding with a passanger, guess we will see.

Well, we don't have deer over here. Occasional polar beer but mostly sheep :D

I cleaned the tire and took an hour of pretty hard drive around the city. Didn't see any damage when I got back so I guess I'm in the clear. I'll see what happens when the wife has time to come with on the back. To bad she's from Colorado and as light as the mountain air :)
