The oil plug on my 98 Road King finally gave up (50K+ miles). Does anyone know of an easy way to install a new plug of some sort???

I tried the "oversized" plugs from Autozone but it leaks and I fear the next oil change it will strip out as well. I would have to pull out the tranny to put in a heli-coil. If I go that far I just as well buy a new pan. There has to be something I can use.

    Thanks in advance,
    Tom

    Tap it

Well tom, you you have three choices, 1, buy new pan , 2, tap it to the next size larger, 3 heli-coil-it. Good-Luck.(IMo)

There is a fastener company out there that sells the plug and external threads that can be welded in, but for the life of me I can't remember whom. Possibly WW Grainger. Try looking it up on the web. The application is for industrial equipment, but Caterpillar or Harley, oil is oil and a leaky pan is a leaky pan!
