I would like to replace my throttle cables on my 2006 XL1200R, for longer handlebars. I just re-jetted my cv carb with CVP's kit. When doing this, I looked at how the throttle cables are connected to the carb, which appears to simply have the ferrules jammed into the rotating wheel (or whatever it is called). It doesn't appear there is any form or fashion that the ferrules are inserted. Is that true?

Make sure you have a HD service manual it will explain the whole process for you. You will need longer cables to match the bar length.

Yes you have the round brass ferrules they are "placed" into the round throttle assemble in the correct holes for them, and the cable routed through it's side up into the cable end
    assembly at the top.

UP top at the grip you will find the brass ferrules are not part of the cable (who knows why) they are separate, you remove them from the grip, drop them into the black hole of the garage, look for an hour and cuss, scream bitch moan, go buy two new ones and then find the other one. Typically they fall into the engine area to never be seen again.

Loosen up the cables at the adjusters by the throttle and work from there.

yeah unless it's during the grip change, which of course you do on Friday or Sat nights, with beer, late, when the shops are closed and you are supposed to meet people at 7 am, before shops open....:banghead:
