Rocker box keeps leaking

I have replaced my rocker box gaskets a few times now and they always seem to weep I crank them down and I check to make sure they are tight after I notice the weep and they are any ideas.

Are you getting the newer metal ones? Don't know about the BT's, but for Sportsters the change was made in 2000. They have the same rocker boxes '91-'03 & from '91-'99 leaking was a problem with the old style gaskets - but not the new. I would assume they changed 'em for all models.

these are the rubber ones on the upper parts of the rockers not were it bolts on the head but were the rocker box covers bolt on the rocker box they are rubber.

I'm not familiar with your particular bike, but Sportsters have a 3-piece rocker box & the gaskets for those pieces was what I was referring to - not the head gasket. And if H-D gaskets are the ones giving you problems, you can go with James or Cometic. The metal H-D ones work fine on Sportsters.

yes they are three piece the lowest one is metal and the other two are rubber

Maybe Some Of The Old Gasket Is Still Stuck, Or If It's Only One Place Leaking Maybe Some Kinda Warping On The Rockerbox Plate. Have You Try'd Tighting While It's Hot, Would Sugest Use'n A Tourqe Wrench Like Chuck Said, Wouldn't Want To Strip Or Snap A Bolt, I'm Sure There Are No Heli Coils Instaled For Your Protection. Or Maybe Agian It's The Improper Tightning Sequence.

ok i took the rocker box apart again and i think i fixed it. i was using permatex on the rocker boxes so it would hold the gasket in place then torque it down. this thime what I did was no permatex and i lightly sanded the top cover so it would have a rough surface to grab better. I have test riden the bike and so far no drips on weeps. thanks for all the help

last time I did mine that was all I did, clean the old out and just sat the new one on, the gasket already has a adhesive on it that activates with the heat.

On my 75 sportty,I was having leaks at the rocker box,I tried permatex on the gaskets and even painted the gaskets,they always leaked,the last time I didn't use any gasket just used some high temp silicone on the rocker box and so far no leaks....
