Boys, I think I'm gonna let Blood, Sweat & Beers fade away and start new threads. Went for a 70 mile ride yesterday and I feel kinda beat up today!

Saw tattoo and he said I needed to get a vented gas cap. I thought I had one but then I noticed that hissing sound from pressure in the gas tank. Yikes!

Really enjoying this summer type weather we're having.:D

The weather's been amazing! I've put over a thousand miles on in March already. Unbelievable. Loving it.

Not sure where all these storms were getting are headed but the snow is really pilling up in the mountains here. Thinks its headed towards Colorado.

Went for a hundred mile ride today, but nothing over 60 MPH. Still breaking the motor in. Noticed a small leak at the tranny shaft. I have read that the only way to permanently stop those leaks is to do some machine work and install a pair of oil seals.

Monday I'm riding into Tarboro and get the frame welding done. We have decided to weld the bolt to the frame on both sides. I'll feel a lot better about that. I like to ride my rear tire 2 lbs. under the limit for a slightly softer ride.

Supposed to rain some today. Maybe do a little yard work since we got our mower back from Tattoo - but Monday thru Friday are supposed to be dry and 70s out. More rides for sure.
We are having a very warm ending to winter here . . . some are saying it's gonna be a long, hot summer.

Same here, unbelievable weather. 70s last 2 or 3 days, never have that in Asheville in early March. Sunny this morning, gonna mow grass, then go for ride, not suppose to rain till later. :)

I just taught two classes in a row. One over the weekend and one on Monday/Tuesday. So nice to get a lot of work in this early in the year. I rode down to Denver on Sunday night in a serious wind storm. Really, really bad, but at least it was warm. I froze the last two days teaching down in Denver (that's the snow that FLHT warned me about) and was really cold riding home, but now it's supposed to get back up in the sixties and seventies by the weekend. Perfect, since we have a mandatory run to the Springs on Sunday. Mandatory - LOL - yeah, force me to ride my motorcycle around Colorado. That's necessary. :roflmao:

    Loving it!!! :D

Good to hear you're getting some work and some riding in. Now that it's spring it seems more normal for the warmer weather. We've had upper 70s and mostly clear lately. Was riding the other day and one of the plug wires jumped out of the coil. Pulled over and hooked it back up. Kicked the bike to life and it still ran on one cylinder, so I limped home, only a few miles. Changed plugs. They're getting spark.
Now it won't start at all. These old shovelheads can sometimes be a PIA. Today will check the timing and a few other things.

Thought I'd mention that we discovered that the coil went south. Chinese junk. Ordered a new Andrews coil and it should be here by mid next week.
Apparently, when the plug came off the coil when I was riding, it shorted it out. There's voltage going thru the bottom tower but none thru the top. Tattoo says it's rare when a coil goes bad after only 400 miles.

Except for now riding cause of all the rain. I never quit riding.
We've had so much rain this year. You couldn't ride.
Rode 300 miles this past saturday. It kinda beat me up too.

Coil will be here tomorrow. Also S.S. payday. Gonna be in the mid 70s and if I can get the Beast started I'm going for a ride. A few days ago I made a torque adapter (see pic) for my torque wrench so I could tighten all the head bolts to specs. Worked great.

Yup, got it straightened out. I don't mind working on the ol' thang; it's part of the trip as far as I am concerned. But I do like to ride it once in a while, too!:roflmao:
