rubber motor mount

I have a 91 fxr, I want to replace the rubber motor mount. Has anyone everchanged the front motormount before?

Yeah, a few times.....

If you are changing the front mount, not a big problem but, if you are changing the rubber mounts for the swingarm my best advice? Get the service manual. Buy, beg. borrow or acquire one by another means if you have too.

The front is pretty easy as long as you have the bike on a lift and level. Use a jack to support the front of the engine. Remove the center bolt and raise the front of the engine enough to allow you to slip the old mount out and insert the new one. There are two stabilizer links, one on the front and one on the top. You will need to remove ONE side of the link only! Do not twist of adjust the linkage. You might need to remove one side of the top link also. I usually short cut it by loosening the front tank bolts, remove the reat bolts and lift the rear of the tank for access. I can usually get at least a 2-3" lift. Support it with some wood.

I have also had some luck changing it by lifting the engine as above with the link removed from the mount side and removed the center bolt then the two motor mount bolts then reverse the procedure.

The bike needs to be level because once you remove the links, the entire drive train can shift and is real fun to put back in line.

Alignment

This is also a good time to double check your motor / driveline alignment. The straighter your cycle is, the straighter you go.
