I have a 2006 heritage softail classic with V&H longshots on it and would like to give it the old school look and put on sampson true dual fishtails . Im concerned about the heat issue from the left side exhaust that runs over the primary case, i have heard different things about the pipes and would like to hear from someone who knows about them . also does the stage one download have to be readjusted or re mapped for the duals?

you are just moving the heat from your right thigh to your left....

Tune it properly , timing and fuel and you can keep the heat down some
oil cooler, and synthetic oil with proper tuning helps...

hey your left leg will not be jealous of your right legs
    tan anymore! LOL

This stuff really depends on you
if you like the look then why not...

Either way you need to tune it to
run right put on a K&N filter
and get it tuned and it should
    run better and be cooler.

discovered real quick that you can't where shorts on your bike. I have 2 nice burn scars on my left thigh from touching the hot pipe. Not that I ride with shorts, but this was from moving the bike in and out of the garage. Great pipes though. They look good and sound good.

it looks sweet . are those the 28.5 long tails or the 33 ,s . is it really uncomfortable even on regular around the town rides with the heat issue from the duals

On the softail you sit on the oil tank so heat is also coming from there,
my 124 has taller jugs so I get lots of heat from the engine, oil tank and
    pipes...

Best bet is to put on the pipes you like, and get it tuned to properly run
    and to help reduce heat...

Thanks Murdock, these are the 33" with baffles. I think they are just long enough, the fork lifts were too much.
The left side has the header bend that goes around the primary case on. I usually burn my leg when I forget and lean the bike over onto the stand with shorts on. Not a problem with long jeans.
