Sand In Oil

What will happpen with this. I rode on a very sandy area yesterday and am concerned with the fact that sand could be an issue.

Well how much sand are we talking here??? What were you doing ?Riding on the beach ? Riding off road ? Did you dump it into a sand dune ? I would check the air filter and change the oil. If the air filter is clean you should be just fine.

It was near a beach. i have just heard that it only takes a little sand in the oil to cause major trouble in the motor. Thanks for the advice though.

Yes you are right, sand and oil do not mix well. There is only a couple of ways for sand to get into the motor and unless someone physically put sand into your motor case you should be just fine. If your air filter is clean than your good-to-go. Good luck.

forward controls

i talked to my hd service guy and he told me that i could adjust the levers but personally i don't think that will help much . i guess i'm looking for a ride i may not get out of a hd. i thought about raking the front end and having someone just customize the controls cause no one makes extensions for a sportster. i love the ride the bike and all just don't like the way i sit i have also tried every hd and nothing forward enough so i may have to buy a custom bike period if anyone can change my mind or help feel free to give your opinion.

Wasn't this thread about sand? Did I miss something? I am a little hung over today. Maybe I should just go home and go to bed.

Either way, the sand should not be a problem. It's not like the bike was laid down in the sand or anything.
