Saturday Events

So, Dealership having 2nd Anniversary (since new owner), which has been a good deal here. HOG chapter helping with parking and stuff. Had some of the 2014s out to be seen. Worked the event, then decided to head down Hwy 9 then back up the mtn on Hwy 74 which has a lot of curves, real good ride. So I was behind a slow car, double yellow lines, had two crotch rockets behind me... in a bit one could not wait, went around me and car on double yellow line and a curve. I thought, man that was risky... other one held back. In a bit the car pulled off on a wide place to let us go, then the other guy flew past me. I was running about 40 or so up the mtn. I would say the second crotch rocket was doing 55 at least when he passed me...on big time curves. Shortly topped the mtn and started down the other side, still serious curves. You can guess what was next... came up on second crotch rocket ... down in a big time sharp curve. Bike in middle of road and guy off the side. His buddy came back and I helped him get the bike off the road after calling EMTs. Stayed till EMT there, guy was moaning and cussing, but probably ok, some real serious road rash. No jacket, no vest, just a tee shirt and lots of raw skin. Kinda ruined the ride... No way the guy was capable of the speed he was carrying. Good way to ruin a beautiful sunny day... but it was his choice, did not have to happen.

And it wouldn't have happened if he'd not been riding like an idiot. Had too be younger guys, right? They often ride like they think they're on a race track. I ride in tees all the time, but I don't ride like an idiot.

There are some turns on the Coast Highway in California (SR 1) that are posted 5 MPH. Over drive one of those and you go over a 200 foot cliff. Happy landings!
