Need Some Help Screamin Eagle Pro II Slip-ons

    Hello Everyone,

I am new here and just wanted to get some help.

I inherited a 99 Wideglide that had a complete V & H exhaust system on that sounded really good but was VERY loud. The ball & chain (wife) told me I had to tone it down. I ended up buying on e-bay very cheap a complete stock exhaust. The problem is my wife is happy but I think it sounds terrible! All I want to do is just get a tiny bit of the HD growl out of it. Will the new Screamin Eagle Pro II Slip-ons give any improvement at all over stock? Or does anyone have any suggestions for me, (other than the obvious change the wife).

Oh, to answer your question, about anything you put on will be louder than stock.

Until I could get new pipes, I ran a large drill bit up the rear end of my stock mufflers. I really liked the sound better than what I have now. You need to be careful. Affecting the air flow through the engine may require remapping the efi or re-jetting the carb.

I thought about drilling a hole through the muffler but was worried it might again be too loud.

Go on ebay, search in motorcycle parts and accessories for wild pig pipes.

Wild Pig Pipes I believe is the site

About $150 to $200 for the mufflers, very nice American made, inexpensive and sound good, they have three baffles or did, get the smaller ones and have them wrapped up good with fiberglass, will have a nice deep sound and it's not too loud, she can still yack yer ear's off with these.

And if you want it loud, and she's not on the bike, get a second set of baffles and pull the quiet ones out and shove in the louder ones, medium size unwrapped or lightly wrapped.

welcome woody. you may have other issues at hand. the bike had the exhaust changed. were there any other mods made?? you may be hurting your ride by restricting the exhaust. if you can, check for other mods or ask the person you got it from....:)
