I was wondering if anyone knew if my Screamin Eagle Slip-on Street Performance mufflers (pt. # 80721-09) might take on a louder sound over time. I just bought a 2013 Ultra Classic and only have 350 miles on it. I like the sound of the mufflers; however, I wouldn’t mind if they were just a little bit louder!

They won't get louder without modification. Note that if you do modify them it will likely reduce their performance. You'll likely need to re-map your fuel injection, too.

I have them on my '09 FLHX and they're not too loud to me,but people riding behind me say they sound great. If i'm backed up near a wall I can hear them much better and they do sound really good. When I open up the thottle I get a much louder sound. Good compromize I think. P.S. I don't have a catalytic converter.

Well they are not the same muffler they were before. No they are not real loud yet like Charlie said they are not bad. Friend of mine had them and yep riding behind him I could hear them but if you want to listen to your music they are great.
You used to be able to take them apart on the older ones and alter them. Don't think you can anymore.

No you can't take them appart. It looks like you can by removing a couple of small bolts at the outlet but there's something else holding the baffle in. ' Can't figure out what.??

Thats cause its in the header pipe. on the newer bikes.
Think if I remember right on the 09 it was in the muffler.

No. No catalyst on the '09s, except in Calif.

Hate to tell you this Charley but on the 09 Ultra I had there were cats in the mufflers at the header end. It was not a designated a Calif bike and dont beleave it came from Calif. I changed my mufflers out on it and put a set of Vance & Hines on and the sound was great.

IF, a cat was in the muffler,as you say, when I changed to the S.E. mufflers they would be gone now. The video shows them in the header, ala the later models. Gonna check my stock mufflers tommorrow.
