Screamin'eagle air cleaner kit

    I just installed my American Custom upslashed mufflers on my '09 ultra today.I bought the S.E. air cleaner kit and the instuctions say to remove the gas tank. Is this really necessary? Seems to be a real hassle! Any ideas on this? Thanks.

    normally, instructions dont lie............you may be able to remove tank bolts and place a 2x4 or some-such under the tank to get it out of the way.....

    I can't imagine why you'd need to. Everything is within easy access, but I don't have a SE cleaner--mine's a K&N RK series high flow unit. Good quality and less money than SE.

    I have the S E on my 03 E glide & never had to life the tank , but arnt the newr model tanks bigger ?

    Lifting the tank works - just loosen the front bolts, remove the rear bolt and put a padded 2x4 between the frame and the tank.:)

    Have a SE on my FLHR and didn't need to lift the tank...can't imagine why there'd be a need to, either.

    I didn't need to lift or remove the tank on my 08 and I don't think there's any difference with the 09.

    Had a 09 Ultra and put an SE air cleaner on it. I did not have to lift the tank.

    The gas tank is dang easy to remove.

    Yer removing the Gas tank cause it probaly wants you to remove the support bracket bolts from the back side holding the throttle body on.

    The stock backing Plate is Plastic, The new backin plate is metal.
    So you need to remove the metal backin plate so everhing willfit into place.

    Put one on my 2011 Ultra limited and didn't have to pull the tank. It can be done with the bigger tank without pulling it.

    Got a acres win eagle air kit off a 2010 SE street glide
    It's like part #29490-09
    it would not fit with the support bracket
    HD makes more than one S E air cleaner
