    Hi I have a 2004 Heritage Softail 1450cc Twin Cam 88B.
I have been told that I can change either my pipes or my air cleaner to Screaming eagle parts without touching the GSPFI but if I change them both I have to get my dealer to upgrade/download at a cost of £200.
question if I change both and do not upgrade/download, whatever. what will be the result of this action?

    Pipes for sound
Air cleaner to avoid changing paper ones
Not actually bothered about going faster.

HEAT!!! in a big way!! I did my bike over the course of a week.....first the air filter....added just a bit of pep (not much) and maybe just a bit more engine heat....when I canged the pipes.....WOW!! GOT HOT QUICK!!!! Factory tuning is already lean to meet emissions codes.....add more air passing through by opening up the breather AND the pipes, and it just isn't getting enough fuel and thus burns HOT. I added the Power Commander (PCIII) and just did a download map that was close to my set up and it cooled right down...more power and all that other stuff. If you run too lean for too long, my understanding is that you will shorten the life of your motor by quite a bit. If you change one but not the other, you may/may not have to adjust the EFI due to a bottleneck of air....either under utilizing the air filter (cuz the air can't get out the pipes) or under utilize the pipes (as the air filter isn't bringing in enuf air). I am sure others on this board will have a better answer....guys??!! :D

But remember it's better to be a few minutes late in this world than early in the next! ;)
