Got me a set of SE Fatshotz today and installed them. The install went surprisingly well. No lock tight on the stock bolts and everything went back good. Sort of made me feel like I missed something. Reason I decided on Fatshotz was I like it that hey are no louder than stock, still have a throaty sound and not that it will do any good on stock head pipes but if I should change the head pipes, these mufflers are tunable. They're made by Kerker for HD and are like the Supertrapps. I really like the throaty sound on decel. I noticed that there is much better exhaust flow overall - a bit more pressure out the right than the left - but by the design of the 2-1-2 exhaust I guess this is the way it should be. Would it be possible, or necessary, to move some of the diffuser disc from the lower flow side to the higher flow side? Anything to be gained?

Nope. With the Y pipe @ the rear cylinder, the left pipe / muffler only handles part of the exhaust from the rear cylinder, while the right muffler handles the rest (actually most) from the rear & all from the front - the system is basically a 2-1 with an extra passageway for the rear cyl. Removing discs decreases flow & increases backpressure, so removing discs from the left & adding them to the right would direct more of the rear cylinder's exhaust to the right side, but the total flow would remain the same. It would change the sound a bit too, making the left side a bit quieter & the right side a bit louder.

Thanks Art for the info. I'd like to understand more about how the diffuser discs works. So I guess I'll just let things be unless I do the head pipes too.

Oh OK, I saw these at the Dealership yesterday. I think it is a good choice, I like em. I guess you have to keep both sides the same when you change them. Let us know if it rides or sounds different if you take some out.

    Nice bike too.

The way they work is relatively simple - like a stack of washers with a space in-between them, where the exhaust goes thru the hole in the middle of the washers & exits out the side thru the spaces. See:

    SuperTrapp: Performance Exhaust

Hopefully next Monday, weather permitting, a bunch from the dealership will get a another ride together and we'll hit the Parkway again and I can see how they do in the mountains. I'm still amazed at how well the install went after having to send it back to the dealer to get the one of the primary cover screws out. I kept listening for them to drop off to and from work today lol. Thus far I'm pleased................:D:D:D

Went to Rolling Thunder last month and the bike and pipes did great. Got around 45 MPG plus all the performance (I could handle). About an 800 mile round trip..:D
