I am thinking about putting a screamin' eagle ignition module on my 2004 road king.It has the security system and I am wondering what sort of ease it will be to install. Will there be Problems with the electronic shut-down system or is it a direct bolt-on part? The service manual doesn't say anything about problems, but i have read a couple posts on various sited that say there is a password learn procedure you must go through...anybody got one on their bike???

Although we have different bikes, I do have one on my bike. The ignition that I have is a selectable curve that was a bolt on. I just plugged it in and selected the curve that I wanted. The problem that you are going to find is that the SE ignitions have been discontinued, but you may be able to find one through a dealer search. I really like my ignition and am having no issues with it. As far as your other questions, I have no idea.

yes the bolt on SE ignition is a pass word thing. I believe that there are instructions that come with the module if not there is a link at cv performance on how to do it. Harley ECM Password Learn
I installed one on my bike when I first bought it back in 04, and have had no problems with it.
1st hook up to a battery tender and them follow instruction to the letter and it will work 1st time. takes about 1/2 hour to program, instructions seem a little silly but if you don't follow it won't work.

So as long as I follow the steps, its a pretty straight-forward,easy job?Do you like the performance of the module?

Yes just follow instructions, make sure bike is on battery tender. I only rode it home from the dealer with the stock unit then installed the SE unit. I don't think there is much difference other than a higher rev limit, maybe a little curve advance, mine has no adjustment. I liked the Dyna 2000 much better that was on my Evo, but they weren't available for a TC when I bought my bike. For the most part on every day riding my wife's bike runs just as good as mine and her's is 100 % stock except for the CV Performance Carb from Ken, that I had on 2 Evo's before we bought her 02 TC88. If we were drag racing, mine is definitely faster out of the hole and on top end. We do a lot more touring than drag racing. I'm in my 60's and she is nearly 59.

    Man I'm old...
