Seats (again)

Hi all,
This might be a tired subject, but.
I am trying to decide on which Mustang seat to get for my '06 softail.
I have put 2 in my online shopping basket but can't decide which one to actually buy. I don't have much of a network here to test other people's seats and there's not much if anything in the way of trade shows.
I notice HD has some supposedly good replacement seats but I won't buy them on principle (Why do they put a crappy seat on a brand new ride? ).

Right now I have the xtra wide Regal Duke and the Plain Fastback in my basket. I like the look of the Plain Fastback better, but, the Regal looks more comfortable.

Any opinion is appreciated.

Stevenh, it all depends on the type of riding you are going to be doing, or at least how much time you'll be putting in the saddle before stopping. I've had three mustang seats, all of the wide touring type, and loved them, especially with the back rest, but I like to settle in and ride, and not necessarily stop until I have to. Of course, my bladder dictates to me on that! Anyway, looks or comfort don't have to be the choice, as I think the smooth touring also look good on a Heritage, if that is what you have. Never tried the fastback, but can practically guarantee it will be better than stock, which I agree with you completely on-- a piece of c**p! Just an opinion, of course.

Hey 39forever, thanks for the reply.
I'll be doing some long trips once the weather up here permits. It'll be mostly one up as my girlfriend rides her own dyna . You're right, my ride is a Heritage Softail and after 30 minutes in the stock seat my hips start hurting. I noticed it actually affects how well I perform basic maneuvers like U-turns etc,. where I want to feather the rear brake pedal, so, it is not only a comfort factor, it becomes a safety factor.
I like the fastback because it appears to have some built in back support. The only thing I don't want is to sit any lower than I do with the stock seat.

I'll probably make a choice within the next day or so.

I have always replaced my crap HD stock seats with Corbin seats. They might seem hard at first, but the foam does shape to your ass and I can ride all day on those long trips. It's about even pressure not softness. Masiwe

I agree with masiwe I have always ran with Corbin and had great luck. But, seats are like oils, handlebars, windshields, footpegs, etc. Which ones are better than the other?. Everyone has there favorite. You'll just have to go with what you think will be the best, I have done alot of hit and miss with oils, seats, etc. I think some of the worst seats are put out by Harley Davidson. The comfort (for me) is not there. Ride Safe, David.

Hey guys, thanks for the opinions. I ended up ordering a Mustang Sport Solo Seat (vintage). Maybe next time I will get a Corbin. I like some of their features like the fold up backrest. It seems like rider's are kind of split between Mustang and Corbin (and Saddleman and La Pera).
I'm pretty sure I'll be happy with what I got though.

I just recently installed the vintage wide touring mustang on my Fatboy and I love it already (so does the ole lady),I think it looks good to ,course anything is better than the factory Fatboy brick
