I have Black Ceramic pipes, the kids climbed up on the seat after I got home from a ride and I now have black/white/red pipes! I got most of the stuff off with a rag, but when I wiped off the bulk of the shoe rubber I smeared the rest and I can't get it off. I have been told that GOO Gone works good but I wanted to check with the forum to see if the black ceramic is a factor on what to use.

try a little PVC primer. the clear one. Home depot or any hardware store should have it. try a little spot first. just make sure that the pipes are good and cold! you can also try acetone.

    good luck!!

{neverdull}, You Can Get At Wal Mart, {awesome } You Can Get At Most Dollar Stores, Both Work Good On Chrome Pipes, Don't Know About The Ceramic.

    shoe rubber

I've used acetone on chrome pipes. Don't know how it might affect the finish on your black pipes ... dull a black shine down a bit or turn a black shine to a matte finish look. Although they are ceramic .....

    Acetone did the job!

I did use acetone on the pipes and it took the shoe rubber off. The coating did dull down a little, so I just applied the acetone to the rest of the pipe to make it uniform. I am wondering if I heat the pipes up on a ride if the origional finish will return. I still haven't figured out my headlight problem and the weather turned to crap so Ill find out this weekend. I will let you guys know what happens. Thanks for the info.

    Oven Cleaner

Have you tried oven cleaner? I have used it on chrome before, but I would think a ceramic coating would be like the inside of an oven. Just a thought.

I was going to mention oven cleaner as well...the ez-off kind.

I have heard of others who have restored the black ceramic look by painting their exhaust with grill paint. I guess it has the right look and withstands heat real well.

Oven cleaner is the only thing I've found satisfactory for the removal of shoe rubber on blackout.
