I want to lower the rear of my bike a little, but Progressive Suspension doesn't list a 11-1/2" shock for my '85 FXWG, only 11" & 12". 11" is too short, 12" is stock. Ohlins makes shocks any way you want them, but they're way out of my price range. I wonder if shocks for a different bike (FLH maybe?) would fit. I'm sure the spring rates and valving are different for heavier/lighter bikes, but do they use the same size mounting bolts etc.? If anybody's tried this, let me know. Thanks!

Have you check to see if the shocks from a lowrider are shorter ? I seen somwhere that someone put E glide air shocks on a super glide just can't remember where

Maybe I should look around & see what the shock mounts look like on different bikes, just so I know what I might be dealin' with.

Mine uses a 1/2" stud at the top & a 1/2" bolt at the bottom. Are Dynas the same? You'd think I'd be able to make 'em fit anyway...

I wondered about that too. Progressive makes a standard duty 418 and 440 series shock for my bike in 11.5" length. Didn't want to spend that much, but there's probably a good reason why they cost more.

From what I've read the cut out in the fender for chain clearence may need to be altered to use the 11 inch shock.
