My engine is a '77 and I have been having trouble with end plugs leaking from time to time. Those are the ones on the carb side of the motor, and are the allen head type.

I have tried doubling the seals, a suggestion from Tattoo, but one of them still leaks.

Should I try some type of thread sealer, or thread lock or ? Thanks for any ideas, guys.

    Hey Josh.

If after doing alright that and it still leaks that's weird. You recently put in a new oil pump,no? If so you should call, the manufacturer and see what they recommend?

I stuck a new seal in the hole and used blue locktite on the threads and so far it's working. Oil pump is fine; it's the seal on the front rocker box that's been leaking lol.

Hope it holds for you.... I don't think there is one threaded piece on a Shovelhead you shouldn't use loctite on...lol

Hey Josh loctite makes a hydraulic thred sealant I use it all the time on threaded oil plugs works fantastic. The blue will hold for a while but if rocker boxes get hotter than 225 chances are they will start to leak the blue starts to melt at that temp.I know this thread is a little old but just to give ya some information. Lmfao

Thanks, Paul - and I will get that stuff and put it in my arsenal for future use. So far, the plug hasn't leaked.

Thanks. It turned 38 this year and I try to keep it reasonably clean and tuned up. I don't hot rod the ol' thang and so far it has been pretty reliable. I just recently got an antique motorcycle license plate.
