Skeeter traps

    Has anyone used the Mosquito traps like the Mega Catch or the Mosquito Magnet? Do they work?

    Skeeters in Tucson????? :D They work, but not near fast enough for the bugs around here when they get bad. You can fill one up in a few minutes when the danged things hatch, looks like a lightening storm on the front porch. :eek: I'm assuming you mean those bug shockers. I had one for a while, but I don't know what brand it was. It helped keep the bug populatioin down to tolerable levels on the front porch, but then, a quick shot of Yard Guard will do the same. But, it's sorta nice when you come in not having the skeeters follow you through the front door. That shocker stays working out there when the yard gaurd wears off.

    No actually I am talking about the ones that create CO2 and suck them into a trap. Supposed to cover a large area depending on the brand and size.

    Runs off of low voltage AC and propane.

    Buy one for your neighbor. They attract bugs well. Skeeters come from all over.

    If it works anything like the shockers (draws the bugs to it), I always recommend that people get 3.....one for each neighbor that lives 50-100 meters away from you......those things ATTRACT bugs before it kills them.... :mad: Give one to each neighbor on the 3 sides of your house that you like to relax in.....tell your neighbors to hang it up where YOU can see it, Should help draw the bugs out of your yard to theirs before killing them!!! :D Good luck!

    From what I've read they are the ticket, they will draw bugs but don't put it where you sit, put it out in the yard or side of the yard.

    Supposedly the military used them and then these went Civ spec for the market, I've been wanting to get one. Might do it lowes will let you darn near return anything so if it doesn't work give it back LOL

    Up here in Minnesota, where the mosquito is the state bird, they have become very popular. The local paper did a write up in the paper about them when they became very popular with people living around the lakes in the area. They had many local homeowners quoted as saying they work wonderfully...but are a little pricey. Like HRK said, the military has been using them for years on their bases in places like Guam, and the Phillipines. Again this was all in my local newspaper and I have no first hand experience with the unit.
