    Hello,
I`m a student and a passionate about bikes. I need your help with your opinion for a school project.
The problem that I usually have is that my helmet starts smelling after a long journey especially in the summer. I've seen that there a few helmet bags that have a small air propeller to remove the smells but the price is quite expensive for my budget. So I thought of creating a helmet drying bag, similar to a camping dry bag but shaped to fit a helmet, with a disposable inner lining made of material similar to fabric softener sheets. This inner lining will have an absorbent powder, similar to the absorbent stuff in baby diapers, which will absorb the smelly moisture from the helmet.
I'm doing a little research for a school project about this idea and I would highly appreciate your opinions about it.

    - Do you usually have the problem of smelly helmets? What do you do about it?
    - Do you think that this helmet dry bag is something that you need?
    - Are you currently using similar products?
    - What do think is a reasonable price for this bag?

Thanks a lot for your opinions!!

    Santiago

You can take the Helmet liner out of my helmets and wash them. then put them up to dry.
When dry just button them back in.

I ride with a AVG Modular helmet

AGV - Street Road - Miglia Modular - Miglia-Flat Black

It has a quick release buckle like a seat belt in a car.
I will not own a helmet with D rings anymore.
Put a helmet on with Drings and strap it ona few times ,
find a AVG with quick release from the factory and tell me the difference.

I have asked other helmet mfg why they do not put quick release.
They claim their customers so not think they are safe. They would have to study it more.

So why don't people with cars just have D rings instead of quick release seat belts ?

And for the face shield I know Nolan come out with the new N103 Modular helmet with a sunshield inside the helmet. Hear it causes a little problem if you wear glasses if you use it.
And she built in sunshield is nice if you are headed directly into the sun to be able to flip it down.
Nolan N103 N-Com Modular Motorcycle Helmets

Its just the Nolan helmet is hot to wear in the summer.

And the Nolan N102 and N103 has a place for the Ncom blue tooth for Zumo 550 GPS units and cell phones.
With the Zumo 550 GPS its water proof and shock proof, therefore it don't have a speaker. So you can bluethooth yer Iphone into it and blue tooth yer Ncom helmet kit to the Zumo.
Then when the lady gives you instructions oh how to git somewhere you can hear her.
Also if you have a super important phone call it will come into yer helmet and if needed you can answer it. Or tell them you will call them back.
You can git these kits with Bike to bike communication too.

    scala rider products

There also can be improment in the vent systems for full face helmets .
And you see I keep saying modular helmets.
I Only wear Full Face Modular helmets. They take some gittin used to but I feel better with them.
They also keep the sun off yer face.
you can ride with the clear face shield up to git more air in the summer. But if it rains you can easily pull the shield down.
And in the winter they really shine keepin the cold off yer face.

And have you seen Shark helmets. I haven't had time to look at them, But i hear they are expensive. If they do not have quick release I wouln't own one. But you can also check them out.

    http://www.shark-helmets.com/product.php?sous_gamme=EVOLINE&gamme=The SHARK Urban range&code_gamme=URBAN_RANGE&code_sous_gamme=EVOLINE

Just a thought on what you was askin about a study you was doing.

    http://www.shark-helmets.com/product.php?sous_gamme=EVOLINE&gamme=The SHARK Urban range&code_gamme=URBAN_RANGE&code_sous_gamme=EVOLINE

Study some of this and let me know what you come up with.
But you can see some of the different thing in a Helmet.

And when you git off yer bike where you gonna lay yer helmet ?

    Good Luck !

my liner does not come out.....cant afford the high priced fancy stuff.....i wash my hair daily, i store my helmet in a wire basket hanging on my shop wall. once in a while i will dust my helmet with baby powder. it works for me. my helmet doesnt have an odor in it. i actually found this helmet in a car wash. took it home, cleaned it up, painted it, and it fits me better than all the other helmets i own......go figure!!!!! wonder what the nfl does with their helmets?????

My wife wears a dew rag with elastic in it.

They just make me look like a redneck Dork !

I can't wear them. And they keep sliding all over the place.
My AVG helmet has the coolmax liner. I really like it.

Think ChuckTx tried a Dew Rag, it seems to not want to be on his head either.
Wonder if it went from a dew rag to a shop rag ?

Like Chuck I wash my hair everyday and I also wear a dew rag, helps as you can wash them. I have several so I can rotate them. I put my helmets upside down in out motorcycle closet when storing it. The dew rag never stays in it after riding. I also wear a baseball cap when not riding. My helmets never smell bad.

I was gonna suggest throwing a couple of moth balls in the helmet when ya store it - but probably wouldn't work for cardboard cause he would forget to take them out and get a bruised noggin every he went ridin!:roflmao:

Depending on the length of my hair, I often wear a bandana, or some kind of cap, I agree with the dew rag looking dorkie, I have worn one a few times. I’ve got 3 good helmets but very seldom wear one, usually only when I go to a state where it is required.

only one dork in this picture...:roflmao:

I know a lot of bikers that wear dew rags and I would never tell them they look like a dork. I wear em, like em and don't care if they look dorky, they help keep the helmet clean and they also help keep the head warmer on cold days. They don't work in a full face but I usually only wear a half helmet.

dont really care for the "dude" rags myself I wear a welding cap and it usually fits under the skid lid when I'm humble. and usually only wear it on longer rides and states that prefer to infreinge on the right of choosing.

I've never had an issue with a smelly motorcycle helmet. My hockey helmet is nasty, but I'm going to be showering after I play anyway, so it doesn't matter.

    Good luck on your project.
