Speed O and tach

    :confused: Can use some Info Please. I have a 95 fxd and the speedometer jumps to around 90 mpr at all times and will not show the reading of miles on it. also my tachometer will not go over 3,000 rpm's. thanks

    on the top left of the trans there is a speedo sensor for electronic speedos and tachs. (Assuming your speedo is electronic and not cable driven)

    If so remove the allen and pry it out gently with a flat blade screwdriver, you will see tons of metal shavings on it as it's a magnet.

    Wipe with a clean papertowel, and don't use your fingers as it's sharp metal shards. Watch the o ring and don't cut it.

    Push back in the trans and pull back out, reclean, do a couple of times it will pick up more shavings.

    This should fix the speedo, if it doesn't then it's possible the sensor is bad.
