Got a 96 XL1200c with electronic speedo. Stopped and fueled up before a day trip and started riding off when I realiized I had not reset the tripmeter. In the process of trying to do this I somehow reset the actual mileage of the bike to zero miles!!! I have not been able to get "back" to the original mileage! Is it still in there and how do I get it back to display tru mileage on my bike?

I did that on my 97 Dyna once pushed the reset button several times the held it zeroed all of it. The dealer had to put it up to the correct mileage again. I did replace it several weeks later when it died.

or the switch is no longer functioning and you're really not toggling between the reset trip odometer and the actual mileage.

Maybe a dealer scan tool has access to that...
