I'm having problems trying to troubleshoot my speedo issue. The speedo needle is not moving when riding, but the light is on. Also the needle jumps when the engine switch on the right housing is engaged. The electric odometer is not turning, but the backlight is on and the numbers are there...they just don't change. Also, when I engage the turn signals they do not deactivate after a 45 degree turn like they are supposed to.

Is this a speed sensor issue? Are all three sensed by the speed sensor in the transmission? I checked the fuses but it's obviously not that. I also cleaned off the speed sensor of any metal debris and still no change. Thanks for any help you can give me reader!

Ecdowns, I would first check and reseat the cable to your speedo, and then check all cables/lines to the sensors, bank-angle, crank and speedo for defects, (bare/broken wires/connections). Pull the speed-sensor out and clean/check for defects. (there may be metal shavings on it, don’t freak-out)

    Hopes this helps.

    Ecdowns,
Have you messed with the switch housings lately? I had a similar problem a while back after changing my stock (black) switch housings for chrome ones. It turns out that I had pinched one of the wires in the left housing when I installed it. My speedo lit up and jumped when I turned the ignition on but did not register speed. Also, the turn signals stayed lit all the time.
    Just a thought.
