How to you know how much to tighting loose spokes.I don't want to get them to tight.

I found the torque specs in my service manual. But what type of tool to use to torque them

Never mind I see that they make torque wrenches just for spokes. But there not cheap.

Just use a 1/4" wrench. Works on mine - no need to buy a special tool.

but how do you tell how much torque.

Here's a video with the sound of a tight and loose spoke,if you find a loose one just tighten until you get a ring from it...don't use the same tools as the kid though LOL

My manual doesn't have torque specs for spokes. Torque isn't the way I adjust mine anyway - I adjust by sound and try to get them all about the same pitch and tightness by feel.

Of course, first I get the bike off the ground so the wheels can be spun around by hand and the weight of the bike is off the wheels. This way you can also check if the wheel is out of round or if the sideways runout has exceeded factory specs.
