Sportster backfire's through

    Hello.. I have a 05 1200c with screaming eagle 2's and a k&n stage 1 filter. I just installed the deluxe stage one carb kit from Harley performance with 46 and 185 jets with new slide and spring. My bike idles good and accelerates well but i get a backfire through the carb when going 40 or 50 mph. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    agree, eliminate the chance of intake manifold leaks, then if it continues I'd suspect a Lean Mixture condition at whatever RPM range it happens, especially since youre running a K&N now & breathing alot better

    I sprayed wd40 around the top and bottom of the carb and around the intake and got no change in rpm's so i don't think i have and air leak. I'll try adjusting the mixture some more and see where that gets me. Thanks for the help

    I have tried adjusting the carb both richer and leaner but i still get a backfire through the carb at around 50 mph in 4th gear and at around 40 in 3rd gear. Should i try and switch from the 185 jet back to the stock 180 jet.
