Found someone to swap engine cases with, my wrinkle grey finish for chrome ones. Do you just use a small slide hammer to remove the cam bushings out of the R side case? Going to the dealer for a shop manual and all needed gaskets in a couple days. Any advice from one who knows?

See what the SM says. If no answer there, talk to Hammer Performance. They specialize in Sportsters

Went to Hammer Performance website, thank you. Read description on how to remove cam cover. "Do not remove cover, STOP, remove valve spring pressure!". Guess I needed to see that last night. Oh, well, that's how we learn...
Guess I know how my Canadian Thanksgiving weekend will be spent...LOL!

Went to dealer, bought all gaskets, ordered in a manual and one cam bushing that got nicked on removal.
With snow season coming, got sidetracked with new belts and friction wheel for the old snowblower as priority repair. While picking up snowblower parts they talked me into a new one. Emailed the wife after, she was cool with it. She's a keeper!

Well, I figured since you and I are the only two cool guys on here with Sportsters and you already know what they look like apart, I would not bother. But since you asked, I'll fire up the camera tomorrow and take a few of my foolish venture into the unknown.
Got the rocker boxes off to relieve tension on the cams today after reassembling the snowblower and putting it aside, will remove primary cover tomorrow. ;)

Yep. A bit more plasticky crap on it than I would like, we'll see how it holds up. A bit under $2000, so the price wasn't too painful, would have rather spent some of the money on a D&D Bobcat 2-1 pipe instead.

I bought it kind of "on the fly" when at the supplier for lawncare stuff for my old blower, must have been a really good salesman, I guess. Can't really remember what size it is, just unloaded it and stuffed it in the shed. 28' and 9-10 hp? For some reason 928 rings a bell. Checked the website while typing, Powermax H-D928, and it has handlebar warmers. MMMMMM, handlebar warmers.....

we just put out grub killer and insecticide on the lawn for pests
keeps the diller's away, no pythons but we have nice black snakes that eat rats, mice and poison snakes,

we do have to mow all year, but it's every other week in the winter.
