I had a guy at work on Friday ask me if I had my moped out yet. After he said that, I told him that my moped would kick the crap out of that stock 103 he has. He laughs. Of course I need to get mine put back together. I think I am going to take his bike from him.;)

Heard all that stuff when I had the Sporty too JB....lil girls bike, half a Harley, etc etc...
Seems they always stopped when I'd ask if they'd like to do a 1/4 mile run and bring ownership papers;)
Only ones that would have a chance were hopped up FXRs or a Dyna....
Power to weight ratio is heavily in the Sporty's favor over a Geezer Glide

Yeah I hear that stuff a lot as well. The people who say that sort of stuff for the most part are just plain ignorant.

I had a 99 96 inch Wide Glide and she would play with me...Also plenty of articles out there about Sportsters beating big v-twins...I never drove her bike and had no interest in driving it until I drove it home from the indy one day...Agile and quick...Started out as an 883 Hugger and then she had it converted to a pretty mean 1200 about 3 months after she got it...

Sportsters are fun. Before my issues with mine I as well had a very stout 1200. Now it will be a very stout 1450.

1450cc's will be very, very quick. You will be buying lots of rear tires lol. My stock 1000cc '72 ironhead was plenty of bike for me. I sometimes did wheelies unintentionally.

1/2 a harley has 4 hot cams and geared for racing and not for touring. JB's sporty would win imho

Hmmm... 1/8 or 1/4 mile?? A 124"SNS in a Softail chassis with a big heavy pilot vs a well built 88" Sportster motor in a Sportster chassis with a smaller lighter pilot....
I'd consider it for a few beers, not papers;)...(where's that pot stirring emoticon lol)
Rider ability would also be a factor..And the Sporty would have to be very well built to make it a good run...
What kinda TQ- Hp the 124" put out??

No replacement for displacement. Go with the 124.

They're Beasts!!! But I think you'd be able to shut up the guy with a Stage one 103 Bagger with your hopped up 88" Sporty:)...A lot of races are won and lost off the line....Reaction time and rider factor in....A better rider with quicker reaction time can make up for a little HP shortage....

Yeah. But I am willing to bet that that 103 is under 85 horsepower to my projected 110.

JMO but I think the new Dyna Switchback with the 103 in it. Put some good mufflers and a dyno tune on it would make a much better bike than a Sportster.
