Rode one. Loved the look and didn't mind the ride at all, but I didn't want the Softail rear suspension. In retrospect, I probably would have been just about as happy with that Heritage Springer as with my King...but it wouldn't have looked as cool with a windshield.

I've seen springers with a windshield and I thought to that they look better without one. I've never rode one but do like the looks. Who is flhtbiker, flht sounds like a touring bike. Anyway I've looked at the EVO models but the ones I see for sale they seem to want an arm and a leg for th pre-2000 models.

They are great looking bikes, lover the springer front end.

JMO they are better riding bikes
like the way you sit in a softail vs on a touring

Buddy bought one and turned it into a crossbones
for way less than a new crossbones...

Never cared mush for the looks of the Crossbones as well as the looks of the older Springers. Kind of like the 2000 and older bikes with the EVO motor.

Harley played games with motor size on different bikes then and their still doing it today. I know the Roadking in 99 was a Twin Cam cause I made the mistake of owning one. Yep, cam bearings went out at around 4,000 miles and HD warrantied it by rebuilding the motor.

I Love Springers!!! I love how they look, and I love how they ride!! I like them so much that I will put a springer on my Sporty one day.

The Cross Bones is an acquired taste. When I first say it, I did not like it all. But then it started to grow on me. Now it is to the point that if I were to buy a newer bike, the Bones is my only choice, or at least a springer. I found a nice 05 Springer for sale of about 13k. It looked like it was in nice shape.

BTW, the Bones with that 96 CI in it I thought was more impressive than a 96 built to a 103 SG with some grunt.

I really love riding my Springer. Won't ride it in the rain just to hard to keep it clean. Great summer bike and riding down 101 on the coast.
