Hi I'm new here but wanted to know what jets come in the stage 1 Kit from Harley Performance. I'm puttin on 2" rush pipes with a S/E air cleaner and want to upgrade and jetting. Is this a good choice for my 88tc 06 heritage? I've done a little research and believe a #46 pilot jet is what I'll need to go with. Any help will be great! I'm looking forward to useing this forum.

Your pipes will likely be too big for an 88 incher. The 88 TC seems to prefer the flow rate out of 1 3/4" pipes. Too big, too small, too short, too long, and too little back-pressure will all affect performance in different ways. If your were runing a 100 incher + then the 2" pipes would probably be right.

As for the pilot, you might be right... maybe. Most stage ones will take a 45 or 46 pilot but some folks find the stock 42 works best or in my case a 48 works. You can get pilots online for a couple bucks. I think the last ones I got at the dealer were about $5.50... the price you pay for walking in and picking them up versus waiting. You might benefit from a little larger main too. In other words there is no fixed prescription. You will have to experiment a little. If you find that the engine is slow to warm up and gives a carb cough when you blip the throttle and your mixture screw is already out 3 1/2 turn, try the next bigger pilot. Between American Iron Mag and the internet, you'll git r dun! :banghead:

Thanks breeze I didn't know the 2" pipes would be to large for my 88. I got a deal on ebay. I can change the baffles to a 1.75" if I need to . I don't have the pipes or th S/E air cleaner on the bike yet so I was doing my homework on the jetting. Thanks for your input I sure will use it. I'll pull the carb and see what number pilot is in it and go one number larger and start there. turn the air/fuel screw out 2 turns from closed and tune from there. Thanks alot for the info!

I too went that route of increasin jet sizes but it never seemed right. It was either good on idle and coughing when rolling on or too rich. Installed that Stage 1 Carb Tuner Kit and it was pretty much set it and forget it. Should try torque cones with your 2 inch pipes

I'm not saying your pipes are junk. I'm a little bit of a performance freak and try to get all I can out of what I got. Lots of folks buy pipes simply for looks and others a combo of looks and performance. If you got a deal on them, why not experiment and try to make them work well. I've known of a few folks that used torque cones in short pipes and no baffles and it did help with reversion. I'm not familiar with your pipes but I'll do a little research.

For clarification are you talking about a complete set with 2" head pipes or are you talking about 2" slipons?

After looking at the Rush website all I see is slip-on mufflers, not complete sets with head pipes. The Rushs come in different baffle sizes from 1.5" up to 2.25" for your year model. If you have just the muffler with a 2" baffle then you are probably good to go. If you have 2" head pipes and mufflers to fit, then you might want to experiment with the torque cones. Let us know how this project goes. Good luck!:chopper:

Breeze.. I have the slip ons with the 2" baffle in them. I still might go to a 1.75" baffle if the 2" are to loud or for the tuning side of it. Thanks for the info.
