I had dealer to install pipes (Long shot Duels V& H) on new flhx before it left the shop.Rode it less than 100 miles afterwards all was fine (purchased late Nov 07).I installed stage 1 kit and V&H fuel pak when parts came in myself.

After riding yesterday for my first time since the fuel pak and stage 1 install all was well for about first 30 miles then "chirping/rattleing "noise started. It sounds like it may be an exhaust leak but not sure, the bike performance is fine and runs well, but the noise is annoying as hell. I let bike cool down for about an hour and checked exhaust nuts, but seemed to be tight, motor may been too warm yet to tell.Any thing I can check before taking it back to the dealer may save me the trip would be appreciated.

if not the heat shields, go back over the clamps and torque to specs.......if they arent harley clamps you may break them, as aftermarket clamps are not as good as the harley clamps..........................:)

Most times a chirp is due to an exhaust leak. Check the slipon clamps to make sure they are tight and that they are at the end of the muffler flange so they will get their greatest clamp force. The harley torka clamps are better than most of the after market clamps for getting a tight seal.

Thanks !! Will check all heat shield clamps. It sounds like its from the rear area.Don't really have a muffler clam since the Vance and Hines are true duals but there is outter heat shields around the rear too.

I would assume the dealer used the clamps already on the pipes, they had to take the pipes off my 07 roadking custom and put on this bike, which may be part of problem with the clamps if they used the old clamps and not new Harley clamps.....lol...

Thanks again ya all.:banghead: I will check it all and let ya all know what I found.

Update...I found two clamps loose and the stealer never put the rear pipe support rubber gromet in the gromet holder allowing the pipe mount and pipe to make direct contact.Sounded like the Hoit Claggwheel tractor off green acres...lol..

Thanks for all the input it helped me solve the problem.....but I must admit after installing the stage one kit my pipes do not sound as good:mad: :(
