starter won't stop

    i replaced the clutch basket on 84 fxrs and starter keeps turning over.
    what's up? (starter solinoid sticking?)

    Has to be the solenoid.

    if you have a starter relay to activate the solonoid, it could be at fault. the contacts inside will stick closed, keeping the soloniod circuit energized......or, the start button could be bad........not likley, but stranger things have happened!!

    I have seen cranking the engine excessively with a low battery cause the contacts to stick also. The low voltage charge causes a high current draw and heat, which is bad.
